Step back in time and journey along the Saba Kaidō, the historic “Mackerel Road” that once connected the bustling port town of Obama on the Sea of Japan with the cultural heart of Kyoto. For centuries, this route carried fresh seafood—especially mackerel—over the mountains to the ancient capital, where it became an essential part of Kyoto’s cuisine.
Today Hakone has became one of the most famed tourist spots in Japan, thronged with many tourists. But it's not famous that there is a very old road remaining as far back as 800 years ago. If you've ever been here, you'll must surprise that our route is so quiet. We guide you from Hakone-yumoto Station to Mishima Station, it's little long journey. You must find fulfillment in it when you arrived at Mishima Station. Maybe it's feeling is the same as that of ancient people who got over the Hakone Pass.
In later Edo era, common people became rich enough to travel within the country. On the other hand, Edo shogunate didn't allow the people to travel freely, exceptt religious pilgrimage. So, people ganged up to travel in the name of pilgrimage. Ooyama temple was very crowded with such people, because it is closed Edo city.
